“What profit will a person have if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life?”
At the other end of an extreme wherein believers can strive to reap great rewards for their Eternal Life, there is this frequent stumbling block of worldly fellowmen, one which craves for so much wealth and power or fame at the expense of their souls. Their shortsightedness allows them to enjoy pleasures or happiness only for a short while. It is as though they have no sense of future hope.
Anything that a believer of God chooses to think, say, and do should always consider keeping Eternal Life at the very least, and not losing it. When Resurrection Day comes, such a person will be called to rise up and live again, even though his or her rewards might be meager.
Don’t we notice how some people burn themselves to get rich on Earth only to realize that they get sick and die young or get inflicted with incurable diseases ?
